This policy explains what personal information Quillo collects when you visit quillo.uk or get in touch with us, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We have kept it clear and free of jargon. If anything is unclear, email hello@quillo.uk and we will be glad to explain.

Who we are

Quillo ("we", "us", "our") is the trading name of Cameron Coulson, an independent design and development studio that builds bespoke websites and custom apps for businesses. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Quillo is the data controller for the information described in this policy.

The easiest way to reach us is hello@quillo.uk.

The information we collect

Information you give us. When you complete our enquiry form or email us, we collect the details you choose to share. That usually includes your name and email address, and if you provide them, your phone number and information about your business such as your industry, company size, budget range, and a description of your project.

Information we collect automatically. When you browse the site, some information is gathered through cookies and similar technologies. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. We use this to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.

Cookies and tracking

Our site uses cookies and similar tools to function and to help us understand traffic. We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which sets cookies that help us measure how our adverts perform and reach people who may be interested in our work. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
  • carry out work you have asked us to do and manage our relationship with you;
  • run and improve quillo.uk;
  • measure and improve our advertising, where you have agreed to this;
  • meet our legal and accounting obligations.

We will only use your information for the reasons we collected it, unless we reasonably consider we need to use it for a related and compatible reason.

Our legal bases

Under UK data protection law we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent, for example when you submit the enquiry form or agree to marketing cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract, where we need your information to provide a service you have engaged us for.
  • Legitimate interests, such as responding to enquiries, keeping records, and promoting our services in a way that respects your rights.
  • Legal obligation, where the law requires us to keep certain records.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run our business, and only as far as they need it. These include:

  • our form provider, Formspree, which processes enquiry submissions;
  • our hosting and email providers, which store the site and our correspondence;
  • Meta Platforms, in connection with the advertising measurement described above;
  • professional advisers and authorities, where we are required to share information by law.

Each provider is expected to keep your information secure and to use it only for the purpose we have set.

Sending information abroad

Some of our providers, including Meta, are based outside the UK. Where your information is transferred abroad, we take steps to make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to respond and, if we work together, for the length of our relationship plus a reasonable period afterwards for legal, accounting, and reference purposes. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
  • ask us to transfer your information to another provider;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these, email hello@quillo.uk. We will respond within the time limits set by law.

Keeping your information secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the safety of your information seriously.

Children

Our site and services are aimed at businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page, so please check back occasionally.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, email hello@quillo.uk. If you are not happy with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
